Onika has always been interested in public health, and how clinical research informs practice. Prior to joining the Pain Lab Onika worked at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health focused on notifiable infectious disease surveillance and antibiotic resistance clinical research. She is passionate about improving health equity and using clinical research as a means to improve resources and access to healthcare for marginalized populations. Her current interests lie in gaining a better understanding of pain processing and how improved knowledge of this topical subject can inform interventions to address the current opioid epidemic.
