Sofia Heras

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Minor in French Studies, Emory University, 2024

Sofia is an undergraduate student at Emory’s College of Arts and Science from Panama City, Panama. From a young age, she’s been interested in science and the STEM world, taking all the available classes in this field throughout high school. Her passion for the human brain rocketed after completing a Pre-College Program at Brown University in the summer of 2017. Here, she took a course on the psychology of happiness, and was motivated to find other brain-related fields of study. Fast forward three years, Sofia began her journey at Emory as a Neuroscience major. She looks forward to learning about the subject as much as possible, as well as exploit opportunities such as working in research. Sofia hopes to carry on her interest in Neuroscience into graduate school, whether it be in pursuit of an MD or PhD. Her major goal is to create more education and resources around the subject in her home country, and is hoping to gain the tools to do so during her time at Emory and graduate school.
